The Garden
The gardens begin a few yards from the southeast corner
of the house and extend a half-mile to the riverbank.
Unfortunately, even with the routine hedge trimming
and grass cutting, the garden appears nothing like it
did in its heyday.
From 1922 to 1950 Jim Granger was the master
gardener around these parts. He was recommended
by none other than William Randolph Hearst!
He made sure that Lily Carter's tulips (and, of course lilies)
were the pride of Arkham. He tended Libby Carter's
lilacs, Ethel Carter's blueberry bushes, and Nigel
Carter's prize pansies.
When Granger died at the ripe old age of 92, he was
buried in a place of honor next to his wife in a shaded
corner of the Carter Cemetery.
To the north is the Cemetery. West will take you back
to the Mansion, and to the south is the Miskatonic River.
